Day 1 · MONTECITO
The First Day
the one where you figure out you never want to leave
Go slow today. There's no real agenda — just let the village find you. It always does, usually somewhere around the second cup of coffee.
Wake up easy
8amBrew something good and sit on the deck before you look at your phone. The mountains do something really nice in the early morning light — just watch it for a few minutes.
Buena Vista Trail
8:30ishTrailhead is right at the end of the driveway — turn left. Do an hour. It opens up beautifully at the top. Bring water, the sun comes out fast up there.
Pierre Lafond
10amCorner of San Ysidro & East Valley. Mini burrito, jalapeños, latte. That's the order. Every local does this. You'll understand immediately.
grab a smoothie too if you're at all hungry
Miramar Beach
10:30Drive San Ysidro all the way to the water. Walk toward Hammond Beach — it's quieter and prettier. Just wander. No agenda.
Take the long way home
11:30ishBack via Park Lane — past the olive mill, then East Valley. Ten extra minutes but the views through the eucalyptus are the kind that make you pull over. Worth it every time.
Honor Bar for lunch
12:301255 Coast Village Rd. Margarita + French Dip. That's it, that's the whole instruction. Great crowd, you'll stay longer than planned.
Wine grotto + pool
2pmQuick flight at Folded Hills; grab something from the Bottle Shop. Pool at 90°, hot tub at 104°. Cold Clase Azul Reposado in the afternoon sun. This is exactly what the afternoon is for.
Golden hour on the deck
5pmRooftop or the cantilever — either. Charcuterie board, open the Margerum M5 or the Firestone Sauv Blanc. The light at this hour is genuinely something.
don't be on your phone for this one
Tre Lune for dinner
6:301151 Coast Village Rd. Been here forever, never disappoints. Calzone appetizer, calamari, pasta or pizza, tiramisu, limoncello to close. You'll walk out slower than you walked in.
Manor Bar, Miramar Resort
9pmValet or self-park, both easy. Always a good crowd. Sip, savor — and if the mood hits, dance. It usually does.
Good first day. Tomorrow: wine country. 🌴

Day 2 · WINE COUNTRY
Into the Valley
where you realize Santa Barbara wine is the real deal
Head north today. The drive over San Marcos Pass is half the adventure — and once you're in the valley, you'll want to stay all afternoon.
Morning coffee run
7:30amStraight to Caffè Luxxe for the best latte in the village, then next door to Merci for a buttermilk biscuit egg sandwich. Worth every penny. Stop at Pavilions on the way back for anything you need for the week.
Cold Spring Tavern
11amOff Hwy 154 on the way over the pass. Rustic, old, genuinely great. Or push on to Los Olivos and lunch at Fess Parker's or Maitte's Tavern — both excellent. While you're there, browse the tasting rooms.
Vineyard afternoon
1pmPick two or three from this list: Gainey, Sunstone, Firestone, Demetria, Rideau, Folded Hills. Folded Hills has a little petting zoo — if you go, walk to Nojoqui Falls Park right next door. Consider booking the Sideways tour online in advance.
pace yourself — it's a long afternoon
Back to Park Lane
5:30pmTake a nap. You've earned it.
Pool barbecue evening
6:30pmPick up steaks or burgers from Montecito Village Grocery (upper village) or Shalhoob's in the funk zone. Grill them, sit by the pool, open whatever you brought back from the vineyards. This is the evening.
Fire pit & s'mores
9pmLight the fire pit. Cook s'mores. Night swim or hot tub. That's the perfect Montecito Day 2.
Tomorrow: the harbor. ⛵

Day 3 · HARBOR & BEACH

Santa Barbara's waterfront is one of the genuinely great ones. Give it the full day — you won't run out of things to do.

Butterfly Beach
11amWalk the oceanfront. Just wander — let the waves do the talking. This is the quiet version of the beach before the day gets going.
Brophy Bros for lunch
12:30pmSanta Barbara Harbor. Eat on the deck and stare at the boats and the Riviera. Clam chowder is non-negotiable. Order the fish tacos too.
Kayak the harbor

or rent bikes from Wheel Fun Rentals and ride toward UCSB
Drinks back at Park Lane
5pmFreshen up. Glass of wine or tequila on the deck while the sun drops. You've had a full day.
Dinner — Stonehouse

Plow & Angel Speakeasy
9:30pmRight there at San Ysidro Ranch. Prohibition-era charm, craft cocktails, live music. Stay as late as you like — it's a good one.
Midnight swim when you get back. Trust me. 🌙

Day 4 · VILLAGE & MIRAMAR

Day 5 · LOCAL FAVORITES
The Good Stuff
the spots the locals actually go to
Today is for the newer places that have quietly become indispensable. Less tourist, more village. These are the ones worth knowing about.
Morning — slow start
9amDeck coffee. Read something. Let this one begin on its own terms.
Brunch — The Local

Pool afternoon

this is a good nap day too
Dinner — Clark's

Nightcap at Monte's
9:30pmMonte's in Montecito — a classic room with real warmth. Good cocktails, the right kind of crowd. A proper nightcap spot.
One of those easy days you remember. 🌿

Day 6 · SUMMERLAND & BEYOND
The Slow Day
afternoon tea, a little beach town, good food
This one has a gentle pace to it. A scenic drive, afternoon tea with one of the best views in the region, then Summerland in the evening sun.
Easy morning
9amTake your time. Deck coffee, maybe a walk. This is a day for saving your energy for the right moments.
Lunch — Little Mountain
12pmA gem of a spot — really good food, feels like a find even though it shouldn't be a secret. Relaxed, unpretentious, just well done.
Afternoon tea — El Encanto Belmond
3pmDrive East Valley Road up to the Riviera. The view from El Encanto over the city and harbor is one of the best in Santa Barbara. Afternoon tea here is an experience — do it properly, order everything.

Summerland at golden hour

7:30pmYour call tonight. Return to a favorite or explore State Street. Either way — you know this place well by now. Trust your gut.
Last full day tomorrow. Make it count. ☀️

Day 7 · THE LAST DAY
Channel Islands
the grand finale — an island, a boat, and a view you won't forget
Early start today. Book the Channel Islands boat in advance — spots fill fast. If the ocean's rough when you wake up, postpone it. It's worth waiting for a good day.
Drive to Ventura, board the boat
6:30amEarly. Dress in layers — it's cold on the water. Bring a backpack: you'll hike, swim, maybe snorkel off the coast of Santa Cruz Island. One of the genuinely great California experiences.
book at islandpackers.com well in advance
Santa Cruz Island
all morningHike, swim, explore the sea caves. The water is clear and cold. The cliffs are spectacular. This is why people come back to the Channel Islands every year.
Afternoon — Malibu or Park Lane
1pmBack on land. If you have the energy, push down to Malibu — Paradise Cove or lunch at Nobu. If not (and it's fine if not), head straight back to Park Lane and collapse beautifully by the pool.
Tea at El Encanto Belmond
3pmIf you haven't been yet — go. Drive East Valley Road up to the Riviera. The view over the harbor and city is the best in Santa Barbara. A cool property, worth experiencing at least once.
Last dinner — somewhere good
7pmMake it count. Return to your favorite from the week, or try something you kept putting off. Either way — you've earned a proper last dinner. Linger over it.
the Stonehouse, Tre Lune, or Honor Bar never disappoint as a final call
One last night in Montecito
after dinnerFire pit on. A last glass of something good. Sit outside, listen to the night, and let it sink in that you spent a week here. You'll start planning the next trip before you fall asleep.
See you next time, Montecito. 🌴✨
